Service Offerings

(1) Mobile Application Demonstration Environment

Mobile network environments provided from NICT Headquarters (Koganei), Osaka University, and Kyushu Institute of Technology, consisting of base stations and antennas based on Private 5G Stand Alone. By using leased terminals, users can research, develop, and demonstrate technologies like applications contributing to Beyond 5G network. Please note that some devices require presence and operations of qualified personnel with a radio operator license, so please contact us for details.

Frequency

  • 4.8 GHz to 4.9 GHz (FR1-n79)

Specifications of terminals for lend

  • Smart device type: 30 units
(Equivalent to "Private 5G Compatible Smart Device (model name: MDE01001)" manufactured by FCNT)
  • Mobile router type: 20 units
(Equivalent to "RAKU+ (Plus)" manufactured by Compal)

Precaution for use

This facility is a licensed experimental testing radio station, requiring presence and operation of qualified personnel with a radio operator license. For that reason, we will verify if qualified personnel exist in the applicant organization. Schedules may need to be adjusted, so please contact us if you have any questions. The type and number of terminals may not be secured depending on the usage situation. Depending on the availability, we may not be able to prepare all types and numbers of requested equipment. In addition, Mobile application demonstration environment (outdoor) and mobile network development environment (outdoor) cannot be used simultaneously.

(2) Mobile Network Development Environment

We provide a mobile network environment with a 5G Stand Alone configuration, including cloud-native base station equipment using general-purpose servers and antennas. By developing mobile core and base station software using Open5GCore and Free5GC, it is possible to verify DU/CU and core parts using hardware and software, respectively. (Please contact us for details as it includes equipment that requires operation and presence of qualified personnel (persons with radio operator qualifications) and software that requires license agreements such as Open5GCore.)

(3) Mobile Base Station Development Environment

We provide a demonstration environment for mobile systems using multiple base stations (two 28 GHz band (FR2-n257) base stations and three Sub-6GHz band (FR1-n79) base stations) installed outdoors or indoors in the Hikarinooka area of Yokosuka City and terminals (six multi-band terminals) that can be connected to these base stations. The environment is possible to: evaluate wireless area formation characteristics of the area, demonstrate and evaluate methods for reducing cell search time, demonstrate and evaluate handover methods between base stations, and demonstrate and evaluate wireless resource allocation control methods at base stations.
